Five Links to Living Fully Alive – the 5 R’s.

Think of someone who appears to live their life Fully Alive. A person who is engaged with life every day, who seems to wring the most joy out of his or her moments, who seems to live life totally on purpose.

That’s tough, huh? When we look around, we’re much more likely to see friends, family, coworkers who are going through the motions, mindlessly putting one foot ahead of the next on the treadmill of daily existence. There is little plan to their lives as they react to their circumstances instead of create them.

That’s okay. Even if you have to create an amalgam of people – the good qualities and habits of your best friend, your spouse, and a coworker – what is important is to visualize how vibrant that avatar of a person with all those vibrant characteristics would be. Looking at her from the outside, she would appear to live her life almost on another plane. She would seem so blessed in her life, surrounded by people and activities that she loves, living each moment with a sense of gratitude and adventure, that it would appear that she just accidentally stepped into such a grand existence. That she was one of the chosen few.

A closer look, however, reveals that she is very deliberate in creating her life. Whether she knows it or not, she has integrated what I call the 5 R’s into her routine as the foundation for her happy life.

I’ve seen it over and over. In fact, I’ve never seen a Fully Alive person, or person on their way to living Fully Alive, skip any of the 5 R’s. They are all essential parts of the bedrock that creates a life well lived. And best of all, the 5 R’s are completely accessible and learnable for all.

So what are the 5 R’s? They are:

Five R'sEach of the 5 R’s is as important as the next and all of the 5 R’s must be in balance with each other.  Too heavy of a focus on one or an underdevelopment of another creates a flat-tire effect – a wheel that won’t roll.

But when the 5 R’s are consciously manifested in your life, each one given the time and space it deserves… ahhhh… that’s when you’ve laid the groundwork for magic to happen!
